Our Program
Teen Challenge is a registered charity that serves to help men 18 years of age and up, who are struggling with addiction. The12 month residential program offers men a chance to find purpose for their life, receive mentorship, academic and life-skills training, while adhering to a strict schedule and learning valuable work ethics through various community partnerships.
Program Structure
Upon entrance, a pastoral counselor is assigned to each “student” in the program to help meet their spiritual needs. Residents are required to participate in daily devotions, classes, chapel, individual counseling and chores.
Teen Challenge refers to it’s residents as “students” to emphasize the structured training atmosphere of the program. Students in the program attend educational classes and lectures on topics such as: Family Dynamics, Interpersonal Relationships, Relapse Prevention, and Dealing with Failure to name a few. Classes help students develop confidences, identify self worth, make good decisions, deal with grief and learn good communication skills. These classes also allow students to learn to express their ideas, feelings and needs.
To successfully graduate, a student must complete both phases of the program (12 months), at which time he will receive a certificate of graduation at a formal ceremony.
The Induction Phase is six months in length and is characterized by a strong emphasis on structure, discipline and resolving root problems through one on one mentoring. These methods help address the problems that have led to drug and alcohol dependency.
The Training Phase is six to eight months in length and is comprised of in-depth mentoring, vocational training and family conflict resolution.
WHO QUALIFIES? You qualify if you are 18 or older and ready to deal with your addiction. Students can be paroled into our program. Contact the intake manager if you are currently in prison. A criminal record does not disqualify you. However, a criminal record check is mandatory. You do not have to be a Christian, but you must demonstrate a willingness to apply Biblical principles to your life.
There is a one-time non-refundable intake fee of $1 000. To offset the costs of room/board, counseling, training and other expenses, we encourage support through a monthly sponsorship program. If this is a problem, you can apply for an intake bursary.
